American business faces an unprecendented challenge in the wake of 9/11. For the first time in the nation's history, a business' workers, assets, and infrastructure have become terrorism targets. This nation cannot protect its citizens of its economy from terrorism without the strong, proactive involvement of private industry. Managing Director Jay Hamilton, working with the Council on Competitiveness, produced a video featuring the DHS Secretary Tom Ridge that helped raise homeland security issues among corporate chief executives.

As a result, companies have increased their investment in security and have formed partnerships with the Department of Homeland Security to protect themselves against attack.
